Meet Michael: Misguided by fate…
Meet Michael. Our new nightlife and culture reporter. We met by chance, but it’s clear he is Misguided by fate…
My name is Michael and I will be your guide into the worlds of Misguided Spirits. I was a semi--retired career public relations executive living in New York City.
How did I come to write these upcoming posts that will hopefully be your guide to the unbridled world of “Misguided Spirits"? I was standing in a coffee bar line in the city. The guy in front of me had a big bold logo on his back blaring “Misguided Spirits.” As my curiosity commanded, I asked bluntly “What the hell is that?”
The wearer of the branded jean jacket was James Zinkand, a founder of Misguided. He answered with a smile and began to proudly tell the story of his spirits company which he and a team had launched around the beginning of COVID19. We continued to talk and I mentioned that I had spent nearly a decade promoting events as a public relations rep for Seagram’s brand, Crown Royal.
That conversation ended with an exchange of business cards and a mention of a lunch in the future.
The future was the next day when I met him in a Union Square restaurant. Within ten minutes, James was detailing future plans and development for his company which, the day before, I had never heard of. He was offering me an opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team that was clearly on the move.
James specifically wanted to approach news dispensing from a more traditional journalistic point of view. Thus you find a forty year PR veteran crafting posts and taking you into the worlds of Misguided Spirits through this series of blogs.
In my coming expose on the brand, you will meet the key players on the Misguided staff, the bartenders who coordinate and oversee the events as well as some of the artists and entertainers supported by various Misguided brands.
In a very short time I have gotten to know Misguided Spirits and observed how they are moving to meet their growing customer base in the ever changing hospitality landscape. It’s a story that deserves to be shared, and I am delighted to be the one to do it. My goal is to cover these changes and innovations as we build a virtual library of posts and blogs.
Coming off a smooth, raucous and raunchy musical collage created and performed by the electric eclectic Action Bronson at Katz’s iconic Lower East Side delicatessen, barreling into adventures with nightlife leaders in Bushwick, I’m embarking on a new grand adventure with these so called misguided spirits, and I’m taking you with me.
Stay tuned for what’s in store.

I’ve lived many lives, all of them misguided to some degree, here’s a small peak over the years…
